Protecting Youth in the Digital Age
Digital technology is a tremendous tool—and it must remain so. It is full of opportunities for all members of society, including the youngest, who are navigating the internet at an increasingly early age.
Today, while our core mission is to protect states, institutions, and businesses, we are also committed to leveraging our knowledge, expertise, and dedication for the benefit of young people. This is a matter of responsibility—corporate, social, societal, and, quite simply, civic.
Children, teenagers, and young adults are born into the digital world and use these tools daily, often without understanding how they work or what lies behind the screen. Current events regularly highlight the serious issues facing children: exploitation and sexual abuse, cyberbullying, exposure to violent or harmful content, manipulation of information, and more—with devastating consequences in the short, medium, and long term.
A Collective Commitment to Trusted Digital Use
We must therefore inform, raise awareness, and build digital literacy among young people so they can take an active role in their own safety and that of those around them. Parents—as well as everyone who surrounds and supports young people—must also be educated and trained to ensure collective protection.
Laws and regulations are increasingly numerous. The French government, the European Union, and many countries around the world are committed to the cause. Associations are becoming ever more active. And we, as a private company, also have an important role to play.
Cybersecurity is a pillar of the digital trust that is vital to the balance of our hyperconnected and interconnected world. EGERIE aims to be a major player in this mission, alongside associations, institutions, and states.
As part of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy, we and all our employees are actively involved with various associations and support projects dedicated to child protection—especially for unaccompanied minors in Toulon, as well as in social welfare children’s homes.
Last year, together with Impact for the Future, we supported L’Enfant Bleu, an association that fights against child abuse.
Joining the Incyber Impact initiative and stepping up was an obvious choice for us. By contributing to this effort—which will ultimately fund several projects run by associations working to ensure digital protection for the most vulnerable—we are simply doing what is expected of a company today: developing our expertise with efficiency and performance, while cultivating our values through a genuine commitment to the common good.
A Broader Commitment to Cyber Peace
Our efforts also extend to a broader global initiative for cyber peace, supported by the endowment fund International Digital Peace Fund, to which we are firmly committed.
Children are our present—and they must be able to count on us. They are also our future, and the world of tomorrow depends on what we do today. We must come together to foster the rise and spread of a digital world that is safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable.
This is a collective mission—one in which each of us can, and must, play a part.
